yes, I agree with your last point.
From what I've searched, I would say the benefit of event driven architecture is the fact that the code for backtesting and for live trading is the same as long as the platform has the broker plugins prepared for that.
I use AB only for backtesting, explorations, etc, and in this case I think it's faster, easier and flexible to test a lot of ideas.
To implement an auto-trading system, of course you can also do it in AB, but I would say we have to code more things from scratch, and for someone who is not an experienced programmer, it could be more error prone.
