I think that the question: "what functions from "R" you actually use" should rather be - what packages you are using in R ? The standard functions in R are not worth time investment, INHO. It's more about a particular package that holds a universe of functions. As for the packages, I use:
- GGplot2
- data.table
- dplyr
- lubridate
