Thanks for the trading advice, but my question was about your software.  I guess the only way to get what I want (alignment with an index where padded bars can be detected) is to create my own arrays with loops, but at a big performance cost.

And by the way, there are valid reasons for tracking thinly traded stocks, e.g., market breadth indicators, even if we don't trade them.  I work with stock databases that go back the 1920s, where repeated prices and volumes were not uncommon.  Even more recently, before decimalization, a stock having a single trade price for two days in a row was not unheard of at all.
