- The product has a one time fee and can be used indefinitely, it is not subscription based. Any updates in the 12 months following the purchase are free to update to.
- The data itself provided by Yahoo and Google Finance is free
- Yes, you can get (almost) the same information using Tomasz's AmiQuote.
- However AmiQuote does not provide you (near) realtime quotes and you can't pay close attention to a handful of charts (i.e. data retrieved for selected symbols on-demand) (or at least I personally found it difficult to configure with AmiQuote)
- You may think of it as a combination of free data AND the convenience of the, say, IQFeed adapter of providing data on demand.
... so in short it all depends on your usage pattern and timeframe. Everyone is free to decide what their needs are.
