Once you go multi-monitor you won't go back IMHO. I would say if you are a developer and use Visual studio, you can undock parts of VS and have them anywhere on your virtual desktop which is very nice. I don't think it is a myth at all, they should study the wasted time as a result of shuffling things, minimizing, moving windows around, opening and closing applications. I bet the loss of productivity is rather large.
That said, don't go ultra wide, as the vertical size is important also. Just get more monitors for width to fill up your workspace. The other thing I would recommend is don't fall for the marketing of HD 1080p. If your monitor is over 27" then you will want higher resolution than 1080p for crisp text. For example, one of my setups is 3 Dell U2715H monitors each can do 2560 x 1440.
The new thing is 4k TVs around 40-43" that can run 60Hz at 4:4:4 dropdown (Very important). Two or three of those is some serious real estate, however you would also need a large desk and decent box with a high end graphics card like a NVIDIA GFX – 980 etc.
Whether you get your typical computer monitor or 4k tv just wait and get them at a nice sales price.

Subject: [amibroker] [Need Suggestion] Multi-Monitor Setup
I am planning to go for a Multi-Monitor setup so i can perform analysis on EOD data as well as do some fundamental research. I am not a Intraday Trader. I want to have 4-5 apps to be opened at the same time. My assumption is that, i will be more productive with multi monitor setup. ( a Myth? )
Now a days there are many ultra wide monitors with aspect ratio 21:9, but i feel they are not fit for my purpose as the vertical high is very very low.
I feel a 16:9 aspect ratio is apt for my purpose. So the question is should i but two monitors of 24 inch or one monitor of say 29 or 34 inch?
What do you guys suggest from Productivity perspective?
(Btw, I for 24 inch I zeroed in for Benq ew2440l and for 29 or 34 inch it's going to be HP 29es)
Also, may someone share pics of their Multi-monitor setups and what's their experience?
