yes my fan does run a reasonable amount, only slow speed but it runs about the same when I am only using the laptop screen and no external monitors. I do live in a tropical climate though and unfortunately don't have any air conditioning LOL.
The laptop is about five years old and of never had any issues with it whatsoever and have been running the extra screens for about three years now. It's a Toshiba qosmio X870 running Intel I 7 at 2.3 GHZ and 16 GB RAM.
I did check out the CPU load and it didn't seem to altar greatly with running the extra monitors. Display link manager.EXE runs 40 threads and between 0 and 1% CPU load but I don't know enough about computers as to whether that application alone is increasing the CPU load. Like I said though I didn't notice any major increase running amibroker with external monitors as opposed to running amibroker on laptop screen only. Hopefully me poor old Toshiba will keep running. You guys got me worried now!!
As Tomasz said USB is only serial interface but from a seat of the pants perspective I don't notice any lag or anything with the screens. all works really seamlessly for me anyways.
