Revisiting this search subject. The Symbol Search doesn’t seem to accept and “*” wildcard at all, for either “By ticker” or “By Name”. For example if I type “N” the listing populates with anything starting with N. Then when I type a “*” asterisk (now I have “N*” all results disappear? I also tried just a “*”asterisk and I get nothing for ticker search or name search.
On a side note, in case you fix this, I have a Database (Google Intraday) that has the format [exchange]:[ticker], so I would like to be able to search after the colon “:” like this
*:SPY which should show at a minimum NYSEARCA:SPY etc.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your e-mail.
"top symbol pull down" is called Ticker Bar and it is completely separate
from Symbols pane with Search box.
Ticker Bar is just a simple Windows standard combo-box, it does not do anything more than
standard combo-box, so don't expect wildcard search here.
As for Symbols pane it has a actual <SEARCH> box where you can use wildcards and anything
and it searches by both symbol, full name, alias and can also include address and country (see options drop down).
As for asterisk at the beginning - it works for symbol, but not for full name (will check why).
Best regards,

Yes looks very fast, although it doesn’t seem to work in the very top symbol pull down, below the “Window” menu.
Another thing I noticed, is that *[some string] doesn’t bring up results of anything that starts with [some string], you have get those results by just searching the string itself without the asterisk. The Asterisk should mean anything, which should include “Nothing”???

Hello,
Thank you very much for your e-mail.
Symbols tab is modern and supports wildcards and works faster than Symbol->Find

I just found that wild cards work fine in "Symbols" TAB search.
You never stop learning.
