Lots of misinformation here.
No, optimization on one symbol can use ALL available cores and it facts
it scales very well upto 32 threads with ease.
Quote from the manual:
Update as of 5.70: This version has a new "Individual Optimize" functionality that allows to run single-symbol optimization using multiple threads
And Xeon 3GHz would be peforming better than Gaming/consumer rig at 4GHz
mainly due to the fact that Xeons have much bigger on-chip caches.
Cache is 10 faster than RAM this makes huge difference.
