Thanks for the reply. The link there is a bit old (2011). Does the information contained therein still hold true? The Xeon chips available these days seems to have a good deal of onchip cache as well as multi threading, but can be more expensive than i7s. Do you have any opinion on these options for Ami? Also, how much RAM? The link there says 8GB. Is something like 32 or 64 overkill?
Thanks everyone else for opinions too. Sean, I like the idea of two cpus, but would two run slower than one? For example, two 8 cores (for total 32 multithreads), versus a single 16 core.
While I appreciate the replies about gaming rigs, I'm not interested in these.
