Thompson takes the reins at FHFA

The guessing game over who Biden would nominate for permanent director of the FHFA is over, and Sandra Thompson is the president's pick. Thompson has been serving as acting director since June when Biden installed her to replace Trump-era FHFA Director Mark Calabria.

Good afternoon —   The guessing game over who Biden would nominate for permanent director of the FHFA is over, and Sandra Thompson is the president's pick. Thompson has been serving as acting director since June when Biden installed her to replace Trump-era FHFA Director Mark Calabria.   Thompson accomplished a lot in her first few months as acting director, so much so that the Biden administration reportedly received pressure to reconsider some earlier nominees who were close to being announced, including from influential Congresswoman Maxine Waters.   Thompson's experience — she's a veteran regulator — helped her to hit the ground running and she's been a key champion for Biden's agenda, particularly around fair housing.
