As you can imagine, the excitement in my house is reaching a fever pitch and we've been planning for the big day like it was Christmas.
Good afternoon —
I married into a family of rabid Chiefs fans — as in, they had season tickets in the 90s when the Chiefs were reliably 9-7. As you can imagine, the excitement in my house is reaching a fever pitch and we've been planning for the big day like it was Christmas. We're not having the usual blowout watch party, but as our current household gathers around the big screen, we will get to see ads for not one, not two, but three different mortgage companies between downs.
The first Quicken/Rocket Super Bowl ad aired in 2016, and it was memorable. For just a moment, in front of all your friends and family, mortgages were cool. They weren't the only mortgage company paying serious money for a spot that year— SoFibet big on their Super Bowl ad and Guaranteed Rate ran an ad in four large markets.
The Super Bowl club got even bigger last year when United Wholesale Mortgage ran a 30-second Super Bowl ad, famously making fun of rockets (that's rockets with a little r, but the message was clear.)
Coming off a huge year for originators, it's not surprising that mortgage lenders are looking to connect with consumers again at the big game. This year UWM is back with an ad touting brokers, Rocket is upping the ante with two 60-second ads and Guaranteed Rate is joining the fray with an inspiring "Believe You Will" ad featuring a roster of sports stars and adventurers.
Message me at swheeler@housingwire.com and let me know which ad was the favorite at your house and we'll discuss.
Three days until kick-off —

Today's HousingWire Daily episode features an exclusive interview with Sagent's Chief Technology Officer Uday Devalla. In this episode, Devalla discusses his recent HW+ article that explains why he believes lenders now face a K-shaped economic recovery.
Guaranteed Rate announced Wednesday it will air a 60-second commercial featuring UFC fighter Dustin Poirier and NASCAR driver Ryan Newman during Super Bowl LV on Sunday, Feb. 8.

In the last few years, the number of existing single-family homes for sale has decreased. But home prices have increased. To make homeownership a possibility for everyone, there needs to be a higher supply of affordable homes. Presented by Fannie Mae
