| Do workers actually want to return to the office after the pandemic? Let's just say it's complicated.
As more Americans are getting vaccinated against Covid-19, they may be able to return to the workplace as soon as this spring. However, getting them back into an office won't be easy.
CNBC's Jess Dickler reports that even with coronavirus vaccinations, not all employees want to return to the office right away. And that means for some companies, luring workers back will be a challenge.
Jess reports that many companies admit that reversing remote work after a year will be difficult. Overall, managers and human resources teams should be flexible with employees who are reluctant to go into an office at this stage, particularly if remote work has been successful over the past 10 months, experts say.
It's certainly a complex issue. On one hand, there are many employees working from home who say they'd like to keep their remote arrangements beyond the pandemic. Meanwhile, there are those who want the option to telecommute part time.
Of course, despite all the ways the coronavirus pandemic has normalized working from home, there are those workers who truly want to return to their office at some point in the future. These workers cite isolation and mental stress of working from home full-time as reasons to get back to the office. Many also miss socializing and collaborating with co-workers.
You also have workers who say they never want to return to an office because they would feel very uncomfortable, expressing concern over being exposed to Covid-19 during their commute or in the workplace.
Ultimately, there is no universal answer.
