Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investing remains controversial, with some saying investors are demanding corporations pay more attention to broader social issues, and other saying corporations should stick solely to earning profits for their shareholders. Bloomberg reports that ETF volumes in the U.S. soared to 29% of total equity transactions on Tuesday, the highest proportion since December 2018, citing data from Susquehanna International Group. The active management effort is still alive. Noble-Impact Capital launched its first ETF, the Noble Absolute Return ETF (NOPE). "NOPE aims to deliver positive returns in all market environments by employing an actively managed, research-driven approach to capture returns from idiosyncratic investment circumstances," VettaFi says. In other words, they are trying to be active managers. The enormous outflows from crypto ETFs in the second quarter appear to have eased up in the third quarter, though there still have been outflows, Bloomberg notes.
