ESG, or Environmental, Social and Governance, has been a hot investing issue for some time. Despite a market downturn, some in the investment community are still launching new ESG products. Last week industry leader Vanguard launched another ESG fund, the Baillie Gifford Global Positive Impact Stock Fund (VBPIX), this one an actively managed ESG fund. Last week, ETF Edge hosted Greg Bassuk, CEO of AXS, which had just launched the first single-stock ETFs in the U.S. Some think this could be the start of yet another surge in ETFs. ETFs are not immune to the market slowdown. ETFs on a global basis are still seeing inflows, but far less than in 2021, FT reports. Still, the pace of ETF shutdowns is accelerating this year after a slower 2021, ETF.com reports. Sixty-five ETFs are expected to close by the end of August. Somebody is always making money on the volatility. After reaching new highs in 2021, option contract volumes are breaking records once again in 2022 amid heightened market volatility and the sustained growth of retail participation, the NYSE reports. ETFs are capturing an ever-increasing segment of the options market. ETF options accounted for 41.5% of all traded options in June 2022. |
