They've become really popular between real estate brokerages and mortgage lenders, with Compass and Guaranteed Rate unveiling their partnership in July, followed quickly by an announcement between eXp and Kind Lending.
It's all part of providing a more seamless homebuying experience, and expanding that pipeline of ready buyers for all parties. Why not title, too?
Last week, Realogy announced it has agreed to form a title insurance underwriter joint venture with a $210 million investment from a private equity firm, Centerbridge Partners. The move will allow Realogy to gain liquidity from the sale while still maintaining a position in title.
As Tracey Velt, editorial director at RealTrends, notes in the article, Realogy was No. 1 in title closings and No. 2 in closed mortgage units in the 2021 RealTrends 500 rankings. Realogy will continue to own and operate its title settlement and escrow services, which are active in 43 states.
