Good afternoon —
Stewart Title made another big acquisition last week, buying Informative Research, a mortgage-focused data and analytics tech company. It's all part of Stewart's master plan for growth, according to Stewart CEO Fred Eppinger. "Stewart continues to invest in the creation of an end-to-end, customer-focused real estate services and technology platform."
Where is the company in achieving that end-to-end goal? A look at the company's acquisitions over the last 18 months shows where Stewart has been investing:
* Cloudvirga: An Intelligent digital mortgage platform
* Informative Research: A data and analytics provider, including verification of assets, income, and employment through a partnership with Finicity
* Pro Teck: A full suite of valuation products and services
* United States Appraisals: An appraisal management company providing nationwide appraisal services
* A.S.K. Services: A public record research firm
* Title First: Title offices in Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Texas
* ET Investments: 57 title offices in Arizona, Colorado and Nevada
* Yukon Title: Offices in Fairbanks, Anchorage and Wasilla, Alaska
* NorthStar Title Services: Offices in Cleveland, Ohio
* Prima Title: Offices in New Mexico
* Signature Closers: A notary panel and technology platform
* NotaryCam: An online notary public
Signature Closers was among the 12 title companies that made the Inc. 5000 list this year, of the fastest growing U.S. companies by revenue. NotaryCam, meanwhile, was recognized as one of HousingWire's Tech100 List of Innovative Real Estate Technology Companies in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Informative Research also made the HW Tech100 list in 2018.
Stewart's 8.2% market share was the 5th largest in the country, according to the American Land Title Association. That pencils out to about $465 million in premium volume. It will be interesting to see how that market share changes with these investments — especially one or two quarters into next year.
In the meantime, I'm headed off to the National Settlement Services Summit (NS3) today to do some reporting and hopefully meet lots of you!
Until next week —
